The Council meets 5 times per year and holds responsibility for the conduct and management of ANZAOMS, in conjunction with the Executive Officer.
The ANZAOMS Council comprises;

- State Representatives from each state around Australia.
- A representative from New Zealand.
- Three Junior Councillors (Members with less than 10 Years Post Fellowship Experience).
- The Chair of the RACDS Board of Studies (OMS).
- The Executive Officer sits on Council as an ex officio member.
President
Dr Jasvir Singh
Dr Jasvir Singh was educated in Sydney and attended Sydney University Dental School qualifying in 1994. After working for a year as the dental intern at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, he worked in the UK as a senior house officer in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Worcester and Poole. After 2 years in the UK, he was accepted into the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery training program in Adelaide at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Adelaide Dental Hospital. This included research in Distraction Osteogenesis and completion of his medical degree from the University of Adelaide in 2002. He passed his fellowship exam for completion of his surgical training in 2005.
Overseas experience includes oral oncology and head and neck surgery as an overseas fellow at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi, India.
He was appointed as Consultant in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Prince of Wales Hospital and Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick, Sydney in 2009, where he is involved in the Head & Neck Clinic.

Dr Patrishia Bordbar

Dr Bordbar is a Specialist Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMS), and graduated from The University of Melbourne Dental School with a BDSc in 1996. She then went on to complete her Medical Degree (MBBS) and Masters degree in OMS all through The University of Melbourne, and completed her four year hospital based surgical training through the major tertiary hospitals in Melbourne. She has been the recipient of several prizes and awards, including the F.G. Christensen medal for achieving the highest score in the Part I College examinations (RACDS). Dr Bordbar has spent an additional two years training in the UK, including sub-specialty training in Craniofacial Surgery. She maintains micro-accreditation in Craniofacial Surgery and is a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh), in addition to her FRACDS (OMS).
Dr Bordbar is a Consultant surgeon in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, and has been in private practice as a specialist surgeon in Melbourne since 2008. She is an Honorary Consultant Surgeon at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) following a decade of service at RMH. She holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer post at the Department of Paediatrics through The University of Melbourne. She is a regular invited speaker at national and international conferences, and a regular reviewer for major international scientific journals.
Dr Bordbar is an ANZAOMS Councillor since 2011, and has served as past president of ANZAOMS (Vic) for two terms. She is Supervisor of Training at The Royal Children’s Hospital, and is an accredited examiner with the RACDS regularly examining the surgical OMS trainees.
Vice President
Dr Nathan Vujcich
Dr Vujcich is a Consultant at Royal Perth and Perth Children’s Hospitals. He graduated with undergraduate degrees in both medicine and dentistry with Honours at the University of Western Australia. The majority of his advanced surgical training was received in Western Australia, with time also spent at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. Additional fellowship training was performed at Royal Melbourne Hospital.
He has spent time in units including Croatia and Switzerland. Dr Vujcich is a member of the Western Australian Regional Surgical Committee and examines for the special stream (OMS) of the RACDS. He maintains private surgical practice in addition to his public service.

A/Prof Dylan Hyam
A/Prof Dylan Hyam is a Canberra Based Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. Prof Hyam trained in Australia and the UK and has clinical interests in Head and Neck surgery and Facial Deformity surgery. Prof Hyam is currently the Chair of the Board of Studies for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. His professional interests include health economics and education, and he has overseen the development of the Oral and Maxillofacial curriculum and assessment pathways at the College.
New South Wales Councillor
Dr James Kim
Dr Kim studied dentistry at the University of Queensland and medicine at the Australian National University. He completed his specialist surgical training at major hospitals in Sydney and Canberra. This was followed by two fellowship positions in Melbourne – Paediatric Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne, and Orthognathic and Trauma Surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Dr Kim is currently a consultant surgeon at Westmead Hospital and the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. He is actively involved in registrar teaching as a supervisor of training and member of the NSW/ACT regional surgical committee. Dr Kim is a clinical associate lecturer at the University of Sydney where he works closely with orthodontic postgraduates for the treatment of orthognathic surgery cases.
New Zealand Councillor
Dr Derek Goodisson
MBChB, MDS, FDS RCS, FRACDS(OMS)
Derek is the principal surgeon in the region for head and neck cancer, facial deformity surgery both accident related and congenital, and he has a sub-specialty interest in skin cancer management.
His surgical repertoire is entirely limited to the head and neck and his post-fellowship training was spent in two of the UK’s largest head and neck units.
Being both medically and dentally qualified, he provides a full range of not only facial procedures but also oral, including dental and facial implants, and oral surgical procedures.
Queensland Councillor
Dr Michael Burgess
BDS (Syd) BMed (Newc) FRACDS (OMS)
Dr Burgess is a specialist Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon with a special interest in Temporomandibular Joint surgery and Orthognathic surgery.
He currently has appointments at The Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the Queensland Children’s Hospital as well as a private practice in Brisbane.
Originally from Maitland, NSW, Michael finished school at St Joseph’s College in Sydney before completing Dentistry at Sydney University. After working with his father in Newcastle as a dentist for 2 years Michael went back to medical school at Newcastle University.
After completing his formal medical training in Newcastle Michael started Oral and Maxillofacial surgical training, working in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane.
After training, Michael completed a specialist fellowship in Melbourne with Dr George Dimitroulis, a world leader in his field of Temporomandibular Joint surgery. As part of this training Michael also trained with Orthognathic surgeons Dr Patricia Bordbar, Dr Joseph Gunn and Dr Ricky Kumar gaining significant experience in Orthognathic Surgery, particularly asymmetric facial deformities using Virtual Surgical Planning.
South Australian Councillor
Dr Zahi Khouri
Mr Khouri is a dually qualified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. Undergraduate dental and medical degrees were completed in NZ (University of Otago) and Australia (University of Adelaide) respectively. He undertook his surgical training in NZ, the UK and then formally completed his advanced surgical training in Adelaide, South Australia. Mr Khouri was awarded specialist surgical fellowship, FRACDS(OMS), in 2011.
Mr Khouri has been a visiting consultant surgeon at the Royal Adelaide Hospital for many years and was heavily involved in the South Australian OMS training program. He is currently in private practice in Adelaide and practices the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Dr Paul Sillifant
Dr Sillifant completed his dental and medical degree at the University of Western Australia, followed by further surgical training under Dr David Vaughan at the University Hospital Aintree in Liverpool, UK. His main interests include maxillofacial trauma, cosmetic facial procedures, orthognathic surgery and surgery for sleep apnoea.
Victorian Councillor
Mr Richard Wood
Mr Richard Wood is a Victorian trained Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon now solely in private practice in Geelong having undertaken 13 years of combined Public and Private practice. He has strong ties to the Maxillofacial Surgery unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital having undertaken medical training and Specialty registrar rotations through the tertiary centre before attaining a Consultant position for 8 years until committing to the Geelong region primarily.
His focus clinically centres around Orthognathic and Orthofacial corrective jaw surgery but maintains a strong interest additionally in Dental Implant surgery both simple and complex in nature. This is inclusive of All-on-4 and Zygomatic fixture placement within complex full arch treatment plans. He maintains an in rooms sedation dentoalveolar practice in his Geelong rooms and has been very active over a long period with the College of Dental Surgeons. Recently elected to ANZAOMS as the Victorian Councillor along with 11 years as an examiner for the RACDS and recently as a final examiner for candidate entry into the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Fellowship.
Richard has a passion for driving progress in the OMS specialty and looks forward to positive input at the ANZAOMS council.

Dr Peter Ricciardo

Peter completed training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Western Australia, before proceeding to advanced sub-specialty fellowship training in: Paediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (Royal Children’s Hospital), Orthognathic and Trauma Surgery (Royal Melbourne Hospital), Temporomandibular Joint Surgery (St Vincent’s Hospital), and Head and Neck Surgery (Queen Elizabeth University Hospital).
Peter is Head of Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Royal Perth Hospital, and consultant surgeon at Perth Children’s Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital.
Peter is is a member of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS), British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS), Australian and New Zealand Society of Head and Neck Cancer Surgeons (ANZSHNCS), European Association for Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery (EACMFS), Australian Medical Association (AMA), and Australian Dental Association (ADA).
Peter is an instructor for the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS), the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), and for specialist surgical groups AO and sorg, He is a reviewer for the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Peter’s particular surgical interest is correction of congenital and acquired facial deformity. He has a broader interest in the training, scope and direction of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery craft group.

Dr Shreya Tocaciu
BDS MBBS MPhil FRACDS(OMS)
Dr Shreya Tocaciu is a consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who completed her dental degree in South Australia, medical degree in Tasmania, and specialty training in Victoria/Tasmania. She then completed her fellowship in Temporomandibular Joint Surgery and Facial Trauma at St Vincent’s and Epworth Hospitals in Melbourne. Dr Tocaciu currently holds appointments as a consultant OMS at Mount Gambier Hospital, Austin Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital and the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne.
Dr Tocaciu has serves on various representative bodies including hospital advisory boards, and is active in teaching and research. Having recently completed her surgical training, she has contemporary insight into the challenges and experiences of surgeons-in-training, fellows, and junior consultants. Shreya enjoys working across the breadth of the specialty, and is passionate about improving access to quality specialty surgical services in the country.

Mr Liam Moore
Mr Liam Moore is a college-trained Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, working privately in the Christchurch area and in the public sector throughout New Zealand. Practicing the full scope of the specialty Mr. Moore is available for consultation at your convenience.
Mr Moore studied extensively at The University of Sydney, completing degrees in Medical Science, Dentistry and Medicine. After completing his medical and surgical training in Australia, Mr Moore began his advanced surgical training in New Zealand.
Having completed 18 years of study and training, Mr Moore is committed to providing the most up to date, evidence-based and minimally invasive treatment available. He takes pride in using technology to improve outcomes, reduce treatment time and streamline the patient journey.
Junior Councillor (2023-2026)
Dr Amish Patel
Amish completed his dentistry degree in 2001 (University of Manchester) and worked in a dental practice for three years, before starting hospital work. He then completed his medical degree in 2010 (St Bartholomew’s and The London) before moving to Australia in 2011. He completed his Fellowship OMFS surgical training in Melbourne in January 2017.
He went on to complete sub-specialty fellowships in Orthognathic Surgery and TMJ surgery in Melbourne in 2017. He then undertook a further fellowship in Head and Neck oncology surgery at Oxford University Hospitals in 2018, before moving to Geelong at the beginning of 2019.
Amish is Head of the Department of OMFS at University Hospital Geelong, Supervisor of Training at The Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne, and consultant surgeon at Western Health. He sits on the perioperative committee for Epworth Geelong, and the ADA committee for South Victoria. Currently he is also President of the Victorian branch for ANZAOMS.
In his spare time, Amish loves spending time with his wife and young son. He also enjoys playing golf and cricket, on the rare occasions that his wife allows it.

Ms Belinda Mellowes
Belinda commenced as ANZAOMS Executive Officer in 2017. She has completed a Bachelor of Management through the University of Sydney and a Masters of Social Science (International Development) with RMIT, Melbourne. Her background lies in senior corporate services and operational management roles in consulting, finance and legal. Belinda has also previously spent six years as CEO of a peak agri-political industry body, representing over 1200 members across a range of issues and industry development programs. Belinda is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) program and was a recipient of a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowship in 2002. During her career she has held company secretary and director positions on a number of boards, as well as being a council member on two Commonwealth Ministerial Advisory Councils for NRM programs.
