Our Council
The ANZAOMS Council is made up of the President, Vice President, Immediate Past President, State representatives and the Chairman of the RACDS Board of Studies. The CEO sits on council as an ex officio member. There is also a non-voting trainee representative.
The council meets 4-6 times a year either face to face or by teleconference. The Council is responsible for the conduct of the association in conjunction with the CEO.

Immediate Past President - Dr Jocelyn Shand Dr Shand is a Consultant at The Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne and is part-time private practice in Melbourne. She undertook her surgical training in Melbourne and specialist Fellowship training in Paediatric Maxillofacial Surgery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. She graduated from the University of Melbourne with Medicine and a Masters Degree and with a dental degree from the University of Otago. Dr Shand is also a member of the Victorian & Tasmanian Regional Surgical Committee and is the Director of Training. |

Victorian State Councillor - Dr Alf Nastri Mr Alf Nastri graduated in dentistry and medicine from the University of Melbourne, and completed specialty OMS training in Australia with additional fellowships in the United Kingdom and Harvard University (Boston, USA). He has been in private specialist practice in Melbourne since 1999 and is Deputy Director of OMS and a consultant at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Special interests include corrective jaw surgery, maxillofacial trauma and the management of maxillofacial tumours. Appointments include ADA Victorian Council (2006), FRACDS(OMS) Examination Co-ordinator (2004-2006), AO Asia-Pacific Faculty (2005 onwards). |

Associate Professor & Head of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Royal Children's Hospital of Melbourne, Associate Surgeon at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and private practice. Completed undergraduate dental and medical degrees at the University of Melbourne. Trained in Melbourne and undertook Fellowship in Seattle (University of Washington) in 1982-3. Past ANZAOMS Vic Councillor and Member Board of Studies, OMS. Currently, Chair Vic/Tas Regional Surgical Committee. Past Chairman of Examiners for Final OMS Fellowship and SST (BST) examination. Active Member, International Society of Craniofacial Surgery.
John graduated in Dentistry from the University of Melbourne, and in medicine from Flinders University. He completed his surgical training in Brisbane. John is currently in private practice on the Gold Coast, and provides public treatment to Tweed District Hospital. John also teaches Dental students from Griffith University, and lectures for the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in EMST and CCrisp Courses.
I trained in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Perth Western Australia and Auckland New Zealand. I completed the FRACDS(OMS) in 1998. Currently I am the WA councilor and sit on the medico-legal sub-committee. In addition to ANZAOMS responsibilities I am also involved in MAC and credentialing at several Perth hospitals.
