Applications are open to applicants with appropriate qualifications in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (Facial Deformity) in Hobart, Tasmania, to further their training and interest. The position will commence in Feb 2025.
The applicant should possess the FRACDS (OMS), or its international equivalent qualification. Full specialist registration with the Medical and Dental Boards of Australia in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AHPRA) is mandatory at commencement.
The position provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to develop further training and expertise in all aspects of OMS, focusing on deformity. The appointment will be at Calvary Hospital and the Tasmanian Health Service for 12 months (subject to successful appointment).
The range of caseload includes but is not limited to –
1) Complex Trauma (hard and soft tissue)
2) Management of acquired and congenital dentofacial deformities and complex orthognathic procedures.
3) Complex TMJoint Surgery and reconstruction
4) Complex Dental Implantology and reconstruction
5) Secondary cleft surgery
The timetable allows some flexibility with respect to clinical workload, and there is scope for exposure to attend clinical cases with other surgeons including similar craft group specialties (subject to institutional approval). The appointee will report to the Fellowship Supervisor.
An excellent remuneration package is provided to the successful candidate through private practice associateship, assisting fees and salary.
You will be required to undertake research activity as part of your role, and aim to complete one project which may be submitted for publication. Participation in continuing education and presentations, as well as completion of a surgical logbook are mandatory. Participation in on-call (second on-call as a consultant) and after-hours activities will be required.

As part of this ongoing commitment to excellence, Epworth Richmond is excited to announce a Fellowship opportunity in the field of Oral & Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery.
Monash Health Children’s Hospital is part of Monash Health and is one of Australia’s leading providers of integrated children’s health services. The hospital has a long-standing history of providing a multi-disciplinary and structured approach towards the management of children with cleft and craniofacial anomalies. Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons play a key role in the MDT management of these patients.
An exciting new position is open to national and international applicants with appropriate qualifications in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery to further their training and interest. The applicant should possess the FRACDS (OMS), or its international equivalent qualification. For international applicants, registration with either the Medical/Dental Boards of Australia (AHPRA) is mandatory.
The position provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to develop further sub-specialty training and expertise in the areas of paediatric OMS and secondary cleft surgery, management of acquired and congenital dentofacial deformities and complex orthognathic procedures. The timetable allows some flexibility with respect to clinical workload, and there is scope for exposure to TMJ surgery and trauma (by invitation) to attend clinical cases with Supervising Surgeons at other institutions (subject to institutional approval). The appointee will report to the Chief Supervisor of Epworth & Monash Health Stryker Fellowship, and when functioning at other institutions will be under the guidance of the Heads of relevant departments of those institutions, and report directly to the supervising surgeon.
The successful candidate is expected to undertake research activity as part of their role and aim to complete one project which may be submitted for publication. Participation in continuing education and presentations, as well as completion of a surgical logbook are mandatory. Participation in on-call and after-hours activity may be required from time to time.

Through generous funding provided by Johnson and Johnson Pty Ltd and Synthes Pty Ltd a Fellowship in Orthognathic Surgery has become available in Melbourne, Australia.
The Fellow will get exposure to a large volume of orthognathic cases working with Mr Nick Rutherford and six other surgeons across Melbourne for a period of six months.
The focus is Orthognathic Surgery using Trumatch VSP but areas of Trauma and Head and Neck Reconstruction can be facilitated through Austin Health.
The Fellow will gain experience in the following areas;
- Preoperative assessment.
- Trumatch virtual planning including access to all sessions.
- Executing orthognathic procedures in conjunction with Trumatch printed prostheses.
- Postoperative management.
The post is sponsored by Johnson and Johnson Pty Ltd / Synthes Pty Ltd and governance provided by Ramsay Health Pty Ltd. The fellow will be based predominantly at Warringal Private Hospital.
Salary $90K AUD per annum supplemented by billing for surgical assistance from Medicare and private health funds.
Commencement: Monday August 5th 2024 onwards for six months (open to earlier commencement from 29th April 2024 if available)
Candidates must or be able to be registered as a Medical Practitioner with AHPRA and completed their OMFS training with FRACDS(OMS) or equivalent.
