ICOMS 2025 Wrap Up

Article by Virginia Pavliuk

ANZAOMS was delighted to see over 150 of our members in Singapore for ICOMS 2025. It was a huge contingent from Australia and New Zealand, and our region was very well represented throughout the scientific program.

ANZAOMS Guest Society Session

Day 3 saw a number of our members take to the podium for the official guest society session. A huge thank you to Dr Patrishia Bordbar and Dr John Harrison for their exceptional planning and chairing of the session and to our speakers, Dr Scott Borgna, Dr Seth Delpachitra, Dr Christian Freudslperger, Dr Nathan Vujcich and Dr Jasvir Singh. The session was extremely well attended, particularly by our members and thank you to all who made the effort to support our speakers.

Foundation Donors Reception

The IAOMS Foundation hosted a reception for individuals and organisations providing support to the IAOMS foundation. Again, ANZAOMS was very well represented at the event, including by a large number of our ANZAOMS Presidents, past and present.

Awards

Sincere congratulations to A/Prof Paul Sambrook from South Australia who received a Presidential Citation at the Gala Dinner, from Dr Sanjiv Nair, for his contribution to the International Board for the Certification of Specialists in OMS (IBCSOMS).

Scientific Program

With over 3.5 days of lectures and as many as 6 concurrent plus free paper sessions, it was an exceptionally busy program. 18 of our ANZAOMS members featured in the main program and many more were amongst the large array of free paper sessions running concurrently. Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony was a wonderful way to reflect on the local Singaporean culture and to acknowledge the contributions of the organising committee. It was wonderful to see Dr Patrishia Bordbar recognised as our Oceania Executive representative who made enormous contributions to the planning for ICOMS. It was also great to see the IAOMS Foundation/ANZAOMS travel scholarship winner Dr Stefanos Kanatsios recognised in the opening ceremony.  IAOMS Vice President Elect, A/Prof Jocelyn Shand joined with IAOMS Treasurer and Board Member, Dr Brett Ferguson (USA) to welcome delegates from all around the world.

Save the Date

We are looking forward to doing it all again in Berlin in 2027. Mark your calendars for 14-17 October 2027!
