New Zealand Branch ASM Speakers Announced

The New Zealand Branch of ANZAOMS looks forward to welcoming you to beautiful Queenstown for their Annual Scientific Meeting on 2 & 3 August 2024.

We are particularly fortunate to have secured Dr Edward Ellis III from Texas as our keynote speaker. Ed is an internationally renowned maxillofacial surgeon from San Antonio who has major interests in maxillofacial traumatology and dentofacial deformities. He is well known as a stimulating speaker and will also give the John Edwards Memorial Lecture.

Professor Sir Ashley Bloomfield KNZM MBChB MPH FNZCPHM studied medicine at the University of Auckland graduating in 1990. He worked in clinical medicine in New Zealand and Great Britain before specialising in public health medicine. From 2012, Sir Ashley worked in a range of executive health leadership roles in New Zealand including as Chief Executive at Hutt Valley District Health Board (2015-2018) and Director-General of Health (2018-2022). He led New Zealand’s public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic and was appointed a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2023 New Year’s Honours for services to public health. He will deliver the Sir John Walsh Oration in Queenstown in 2024.

We are also pleased to announce that Associate Professor Salil Nair will be speaking at the New Zealand Branch ASM. Associate Professor Salil Nair trained in the UK and completed his Rhinology and Skull Base fellowship in Australia. After a decade as a consultant in the NHS he moved to Auckland in 2011. He has an interest in endoscopic sinus, lacrimal and skull base surgery. He is interested in patient reported outcome measures in Rhinology. Sal has published widely in the field of Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery. He is a regular invited speaker and dissection course faculty member both nationally and internationally.
